Community Guidelines

Gameplay

Scoring

  • Games will go up to 21 points (win by 2), with a cap of 23 points for all non-playoff games
  • Points may be replayed if there is an interference (ball on the court)
  • Excessive crossing of the centerline will result in a loss of the point

Serving

  • Players must follow rotation order for serving but positions are allowed

Ball Handling

  • Open-hand or double-contact receive for first touch is allowed, granted that it is a single action
  • Over-setting is playable as long as it is a genuine mistake - referees have the final call

Receiving

  • Players may not receive a ball with open hands on serve
  • Freeballs cannot be passed with open hands
  • If an attack is hard driven, the player may pass with open hands so long as it is clean without excessive spin

Attacking

  • No open hand tips; players must use a closed fist, knuckle, or palm to send the ball over
  • When setting the ball over, your body must be squared and the ball must travel according to where your body is facing
  • Players can attack from any position in the court
  • There is no antenna so the allowable hitting space can exceed the court space - referees have the final call

Blocking

  • Block contact does not count as one of the 3 touches
  • No limit to the amount of blockers
  • A blocker may not cross the plane of the net and touch the ball unless the ball is being sent over as an attack

Net

  • Touching the net with any part of the body is NOT allowed

Conduct

  • Respect all players, officials, and spectators
  • Follow officials' decisions
  • Good sportsmanship is expected at all times
  • Be respectful and ask permission before using chairs or equipment that do not belong to you
  • Clean up after yourself and do not litter in the park
